Arlene Annette (Sederberg) Dahl passed away on June 4, 2003 surrounded by her family.
Arlene was born in St. Paul, Minn. on March 23, 1927 to Clarence and Alvira (Peterson) Sederberg, the third of eight children. The family moved to Rush City in 1929 where Arlene attended school through the eighth grade. Arlene married Bernie Mach on April 26, 1947 and had a son, Terry Mach, in 1948. They both worked at Mach's Tavern in Rush City. Arlene later went to work for the St. Paul Arsenal for several years, commuting from Rush City by bus with many other Rush City residents. She even drove the bus many times.
On June 23, 1962, Arlene married Wendell Dahl. To this union, their son, Kevin Dahl, was born in 1964. Arlene and Wendell owned and operated Dahl Bros. Produce. Arlene was a very hard worker. She helped grade and deliver eggs between Rush City and Duluth/Superior for many years, while always managing to have a hot meal on the table every day. She was a tremendous cook and will be remembered by many for her great meals.
Arlene was also a very giving person. She volunteered her time to make many meals at the Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post in Rush City, she was a member of the Heath-Perkins American Legion in Pine City and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also did volunteer work at the Osman Temple Shrine Circus for many years. She loved to dance and loved to laugh. She loved roses and trips with her friends in the motorhome. She never turned down an invitation by her boys or her many nieces and nephews to have a good time. She also enjoyed feeding, giving rides to and teasing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arlene always had a full pot of coffee on for anyone who stopped by and was known as "Coffee Grandma" to her grandsons.
She will truly be missed by her family and many friends. Arlene is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Jana Mach, Kevin and Paula Dahl, all of Rush City; grandchildren, Brooke (John) Hegge, Fawn (Jody) Johnson, Tansy (John) Diers, Lacey Mach, Joshua, Jason, Joseph and Jacob Dahl; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Chloe Hegge and Tayler Mach; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Knochke, Bernice (Don) Gallmeier, Dale (Gladys) Olson; sister-in-law Helen Johnston, Lillian Hjelm; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wendell; brothers and sister-in-law, Bud (Jeanette) Sederberg, Bill Sederberg; sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley Olson, Delores (Kenny) Olson, Janet (Bob) Kennen, Bob Knochke, Jerry Alguire, Vernard Dahl, Kenny Hjelm and Glen Johnston.
Funeral Services were celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2003 at First Lutheran Church in Rush City with Reverend Laurie O'Shea officiating.
