Personanteckningar
Joseph Hjalmer Gideon was baptized in Spring Lake on December 15, 1889 with August Samuelson and L. L. (?) as sponsors. He attended rural school, then went to Globe Business College. During World War II, he went to California to work. He got an apartment and sent for Nannie and Donna Mae (Dorothy was married and Donald in the service). Because of the war, sugar was rationed. On New Years Day he had a valid coupon for sugar, so he went to the store so they could make lemonade. A drunk driver went through a stop sign, injuring Joseph severely. He died at the hospital and was buried in North Branch on January 10, 1946. Nannie and Donna Mae returned to North Branch then. The 1914 Atlas and Farmers' Directory of Chisago County Minnesota shows him owning 80 acres in section 8 of North Branch Township. He had been in the county for 25 years.
NOTE: The cemetery record shows 4-Jan-1946 as the burial date.
